Oxford Youth Basketball was established in 2021 to introduce the game of basketball to the youth of Oxford, PA. In speaking with many parents in Oxford, some of whom had exciting basketball memories of their own, we saw the need to get a community league together. Too many organizations out there are focused on the final score, individual talent, and travel. OYB is about introducing the game to kids, building fundamentals, and skill development. We encourage TEAM and building relationships through sports. Hopefully, we keep a few kids off the electronics for a couple of hours a week and some of them continue to develop into talented players that join the Middle School or High School teams. We appreciate the OASD and our Volunteer Coaches that help keep the league going each year, we could not run this league without them.

We run the league from Mid-October thru Mid-February, with each child having a 1 hr Practice during the week (Tues-Wed-Thur), and a 1 hr Game on Saturdays. We use both Nottingham Elementary Gym & Penn's Grove MS Gym for these practices and games. It is a 10 games season, no playoffs, and we roster by School Grade; 1st-2nd, Grade, 3rd-4th Grade, etc. We are Co-Ed and look to have balanced teams based on noted skill level and eval nights the first week of practices. We use Referee's for the 5th-6th & 7th-8th Grade Groups for the Saturday Games. Lowered baskets and smaller basketball are used for the 1st-2nd & 3rd-4th Grade Group kids.
